Our Philosophy

People learn practical skills by doing. At CWMT we have a practical, hands-on approach to training using assessment scenarios and patient simulation.

We believe that if you are going to put yourself in a situation where 911 is not readily accessible there are core things that you need to know. First aid in remote environments is different from standard first aid in an urban setting. The difference is in how you can safely manage yourself and the situation and care for someone who is injured or ill. The difference is about decision-making. The difference requires leadership.

Practice + Repitition = Appropriate Response

What folks have said about CWMT courses:

“The balance between classroom lessons and outside scenarios was perfect.  The instructor provide plenty of in depth information regarding the various illness and injuries that we may be faced with. Exceeded our expectations!”

Ryan Wheeler B.Tech. Environment Canada

“Everybody loved the training and my thanks to you for such a great job. The only trouble is you teach us something new and a couple weeks later, we have to use it. Two weeks after the training I had my first ever dislocated shoulder. I didn’t reduce it as he was already out at Achray but I was tempted to try….”

Brent Frederick, Achray Group Leader, Algonquin Provincial Park

“I found the program at CWMT to be engaging, challenging, and a fantastic learning experience.  Their instructors are knowledgeable and confident, and they truly go out of their way to provide realistic hands-on scenarios for participants to practice their first aid skills in the outdoors.  I would highly recommend their program to anyone interested in taking advanced courses in wilderness first aid.”
